Oooh shades of Ophelia, very sad, quite creepy and terribly evocative. Well done! On a technical note I love the way her hair is floating in panel one.
Perhaps. They were playing “jump the portal” together and as you know it’s all fun and games until someone trips and lands into another world full of shrimp.
So is it common for Namesakes to meet one another? You’d think they might cross paths “in the real world,” but never in their Namesake worlds, but if said Namesake worlds are collapsing or something, then I can see them crossing paths more often…
I think I want to re-read all of Book 1 just to make sure I’m not forgetting anything! Maybe I’ll make a Namesake Primer while I’m at it.
I’m curious – I expected a blonde Alice because of the art on the promotional card that came with a print, which showed a blonde haired, blue-frocked girl that resembled the Alice with which we are most familiar. Has her hair darkened with age? Are they different Alices?
The Alice in the promotional card is the literary Alice. Literary Alice in the Carroll books was always seen as a blonde with long hair, even in his hand-drawn edition. The real Alice Liddell is a brunette and essentially had a bowl cut as a child, then her hair eventually grew longer.
So, i suppose this is how Alice tries to go back to Wonderland. I’m wondering who she’s wanting to bring back though…
In a couple of pages, all shall be revealed

Ophelia is a great character to be inspired by. I just love her sad symbolism.
Gotta love how he gets the blame for it. ^^;;
I wonder if Alice is talking about the first Dorothy?

BtVS reference for the win!

Ooooooh! Her face just makes me feel so sorry for her!
XD
Poor little thing.
Her? Hmmmm….
Yes, quite.
Oh, Alice…
All the hugs. All of them.
Lewis looks like he wants to hug her, at least. Do it, man. Do it for all of us!
But then they WILL know he’s messing with her! Off with his head!
Historically she gets married and has apparently a fairly ordinary life. Either you’re changing that or something makes her Normal Again.
Unlurking (loveloveLOVE the comic by the way) just to say that I wondered if the hungry ghost could have been Alice, but I guess not…

Considering the year, I wonder if she’s talking about her younger sister…
