Oh no what’s wrong Warrick?!!?! :’( It’s not your fault. We all still love you, now and forever. <3 Ok fan-girls and fellow fan-boys let's give the adorable green bishie some space. :3
I think we’re All thinking that’s what it is, those of us who have read the chapters and remembered them so well, considering the time passed. Can’t wait to see Warrick have a “what have I done? It’s all my fault” or some other guilty-realization over/of his actions next page.
Oh man . . . the look of SHOCK on Warrick’s face! Those eyes . . .
And we’re slowly seeing more of Selva’s new outfit for Emma, though it’s pretty similar to her old purple shirt (except for the colour, lack of looseness and collar). I’m sure there’ll be a page where we see her full figure in that clothing, colour or b&w, soon enough.
Um. I’m sorry girls, I really love Namesake and I’ve been waiting for Renge’s explanation BUT her explanation isn’t good enough. For some stuff sure, yes, she was trying to do her best- but for poppy-slaving everyone (including Anlise)? No. Nope. Not happy at all. Maybe I could have taken that little “could barely control the vines” thing and been like- Oh they just went wild and attacked people, but considering what we saw way back in chapter 4 that is impossible. She mind controlled and destroyed the brains of the citizens of Oz. Renge gave the flower to Anlise, just handed it over, having full knowledge of what was about to happen, and then watched Anlise scream in agony as its vines horrifically dug into her skull and took away her free will. Sorry Renge but you’re going to need more then vagaries to explain THAT away- and I hope that someone gives you a punch directly to the face.
I suppose we should take Renge’s explanation with a pinch of salt. It’s not like she’s explicitly lying like I suspected based on the last page, but she’s putting a twist on her story which might portray her in a somewhat better light compared to what actually happened.
I suspect that Renge panicked after Ozma’s disappearance, and since her control over the poppies became limited anyway, she assumed that they were doing what Ozma wanted, as insane as that idea was – and thus she went along with it, heck, encouraged the poppies’ mind control over people.
Err, by “Ozma disappearance” I actually meant after Renge put her inside the vines as ordered.
(Seriously I’m starting to consider even selling my soul or something if I could get a comment edit button in exchange… *sigh*)
Nobody really believes her. Which is why she’s still chained up. Nobody is going “by golly, let’s free her, she’s clearly a good guy!”. Free Ozma first, discuss legitimacy of story later. And she is editing her story.
Isa is right. And, Renge isn’t going to escape the consequences either. It’s not like everything is suddenly magically better and all is forgiven. There’s still consequences. And don’t anyone let Hercilia near Renge’s food …
She has the Nome King’s Belt. If she didn’t want to experience any punishment for what she did, the powers of the belt would make sure she didn’t have to. Ozma is free, and that likely means its working again. I’d say good luck.
Renge is also not precisely accurate when it comes to the original Wizard, who (going strictly by Baum, at least) didn’t learn real magic until coming back to Oz with Dorothy, and then did it chiefly by studying with Glinda.
To be fair, Renge may not know this; it won’t have been common knowledge that O.Z. was a humbug Back In The Day. Or he could have picked up a bit of magic on his first visit, which he’d not have been able to use outside Oz in the interim.
D’oh. Warrick sent his heart to Ozma without specification of how and why, and so it ignited on contact with her bodily fluids. Had she not been an immortal fairy, it would have KILLED her.
And Renge? You’re still not explaining the key facts, you know, mindcontrol, poppy puppetry, etc.
I didn’t think about the possibility of his heart literally burning Ozma until I looked at the comments on the page, but I still think Renge is most likely telling what she saw, and wouldn’t know what was happening with Ozma. Right now, I’m thinking that something didn’t go as planned, but I don’t yet know what. If Ozma was trying to go to another world or something, Warrick’s heart might’ve tied her down in a way and messed up her plans, though. But, with how Warrick’s reacting, he at least thinks he did something bad, and he may know something about it. I wonder if there’s a way to fix things.
…Oh…Warrick… *wraps arms around his shoulders and hugs himmmm* ;-;

I bet it’s his heart that burned Ozma.
That’s my thought too. Poor Warrick, he must be feeling really guilty.
I do wonder why she wanted to be trapped in the poppies?

I think it’d a dress: http://www.namesakecomic.com/comic/chapter-10-beyond-the-vines/
Oh, Warrick, my poor baby, come here and let me love you! *huggles*
yeah,I have a feeling that that was probably around the time that Warrick did his spell to get rid of his heart.
Oh no ;_; Poor Warrick. That’s some heavy guilt, there.

Why would Hercilia fiddle with her FOOD? DRAGON SLAVES FOR ALL!

It seems that Ozma is the heart of Oz in more ways than one – it looks like she is the source and main channel for magic power in the land.
Ah, I see. This does explain quite a few things, finally. Awesome.
Also, poor Warrick. Was it his heart that had such an unforeseen effect on Ozma?
Oz’s future is looking dismal with a chance of looking up for the better.
What does, ‘And the Penny Drops’ mean?
If you say the penny drops, you mean that you have finally understood something.
I thought that was a shoe, now they are waiting for the other one to drop..
It’s more of a UK saying than a US one.
And has its origin in public toilets.
wait…what?

But let’s get Ozma back. And give her NAME back.
He became allergic to water as a side-effect of sending his heart to Ozma. He wasn’t allergic before.
That’s something that happens to all who separate themselves from their hearts in this manner, though. It wasn’t that he specifically send it to Ozma.
Yes, but as soon as he completed the ritual, his heart — as a part of him — became vulnerable in the same way, I would presume.
I didn’t think about the possibility of his heart literally burning Ozma until I looked at the comments on the page, but I still think Renge is most likely telling what she saw, and wouldn’t know what was happening with Ozma. AHHHHHHHHH!!! ITS ALL FALLING INTO PLACE!!!! .O.
On an archive trawl, I remembered this page: http://www.namesakecomic.com/comic/the-mysterious-photograph/
I feel like once Ozma’s freed, we might get some insight into it.
Awwww, Warrick… poor widdle baby. *huggles*
I see what you did there; Warrick, Creators.
