OK, now I feel like MY heart’s been ripped out.
TT________________TT
*gasps* Scarecrow!!! NO!!
*sobs*
whyyyyyyyy
there has to be a way to save him!!! i mean, without scarescrow- wouldn’t that disrupt the Dorothy story? and create a world rift/ or serious, serious trouble
NOOOOOO!!! :’( Scarecrow no don’t die on us now please. “Dies a little inside” We’ll miss you most of all Scarecrow. It had to be said.
NO! NOT SCARECROW!
He’s been one of my favorite characters, he can’t be gone!
Aw, man, he was one of my favorite characters in the comic.
RIP, Uncle Scarecrow.
Aww.. and the twins lose yet another family member.
Where’d my kleenex go? Can’t see.. eyes all blurry…
Ouch, right in the feels. Fantastic page.
Oh no, the title of the page made it worse! -tears up-
;_;
Wow. O_O
I feel bad for Warrick and Selva. They’ve lost grandma Nimmie, grandpa Tin Man, mother Adora, and now Uncle Scarecrow? ;_;
I keep trying to tell myself that it might be possible to bring the Tin Man back. After all, he merely rusted in place for no apparent reason (other than a broken heart). Though, he probably would not want to live on without Nimmie or Scarecrow.
Perhaps when she gets back Emma could get Elaine to literally write them back to health?
On a more uplifting note: I noticed that Elaine, Ben, Fred, and both Warrick and Selva are listed on the Cast page as “Main Characters”. This suggests that we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of these characters in future chapters. (Fred should be interesting…) To me, this also suggests we might see Warrick and/or Selva continue to travel with Emma when she leaves Oz for other adventures.
Yeah, the really depressing thing is, even if they somehow defeat this monster or whatever, it feels like there’s isn’t much of Oz left to save anymore…
So if the only thing he was afraid of was a lighted match… why did he die?
On an even sadder note, now all major Oz characters I even remotely knew are either dead or missing.
Yes, and that’s not only sad, it’s disconcerting. If the story really necessitates removing Scarecrow from us, I hope we see a familiar face soon. (I forget: What happened to the Cowardly Lion?)
We’ve already seen a glimpse of Ozma, here (2nd to last panel):
http://www.namesakecomic.com/comic/a-beautiful-city-in-flames/
She’s sleeping in the poppy vines. (I believe that’s the very room they’re standing in now. Warrick commented on how a mass of vines seemed “weird.”)
Renge mentioned on the last page, “Ozma said it was the hole in the world.”
I’m going to have to take a shot in the dark here and say that it is literally the personification of death. Further limb-venturing, Ozma didn’t “heal” death in Ozites (Am I spelling that right???) but rather she just bottle death up and shoved it somewhere hoping it would never get out. But as more folks were born in Oz, the stronger death would become, simply because there were more and more people NOT dieing. Again, this all wild supposition. I could be VERY VERY wrong.
I think this is the point where someone goes berserk.
In the story, or in the audience? XD
Both. I think Isa and Meg went into the secret bunker.
Noooo! Not Scarecrow! *bawls*
As he’s dying, he reverts to calling Emma, Dorothy, and he ends with his classic comment of only being afraid of “a lighted match.” Meg & Isa really know how to wring the maximum emotion out of characters who aren’t even “technically alive.” Masterful!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Right in my heart ;n;
I can’t explain to my daughter why I’m crying. The title, the last words… wow.
My favorite boss is leaving, Scarecrow has apparently died, and, and… I’ll be over here bawling in the corner, thanks.
Heh… heh… Emma, she… isn’t even mad to be called Dorothy.
That last line… May Lurene be with you Scarecrow.
alright first lemme say i think my heart just broke just like it did when haering ’bout Nick and now i’m afraid i might start to rant but this is an amazing web-comic, in takeing such a beloved story and actully showing how twitsted and crazy life can truely get while also showing how amazing and preshious((cant spell. sorry)) life truely is. this may all sound so silly from the mouth..erm…fingers of a young pre-teen like myself so disreguard this if you wish but this is truely how i feel and hope many others feel the same as well~…rock on girls~! keep it up~! peace n’ love, Shadow <//3
This brought tears to my eyes. Well done, ladies.
I told myself I wasn’t going to cry
but now my eyes are getting all misty
oh jeez
right in the feels
SCARECROW! :O
THAT was long overdue.
I guess the only question now is what happened to the Lion.
