Oooh, I’m getting the sense of another sidetrack from the story, but one that will also CONTRIBUTE to the story and have some sort of part with the pay-off at the end/ing, right?
I can’t tell if Emma is still wearing Hercilia at this vantage point. At first I thought that story “characters” could not leave their worlds. Then I remembered Bird and Fish dealing over the Red Shoes. I hope Hercillia came with Emma.
There’s also the possibility that this is all happening in her head. (I thought either she was pulled away from everyone else, Warrick came with her, or she’s daydreaming)
Oh, you TEASES! “Grand Confrontation with Renge — NOW!” “Ha! Just fooling!”
With the way you use color, I can’t be certain where she is. She could be in an entirely different world, or she could be somewhere in the Quadling country (all the red, you know).
Does that look like a heart (or two, or parts of same) at the bottom edge of the next to last frame? As in Warrick’s? And a ‘u’ shaped scar on the lady(?) in the last panel…
THE RAPIER!!! It’s the sword you’ve been telling us for a long time would show up eventually! I just didn’t expect it to show up so soon… either way, ms. eyeless ghost seems to have drug Emma somewhere completely unknown… not good.
I had the feeling for a moment that it’s the vorpal sword, stuck in the tum-tum tree after the defeat of the Jabberwock… but that’s a world within another namesake’s world, ad the sword’s wrong.
It’s been a while since I’ve read one of the Frank Baum books, so I had to look this up. If you don’t mind me citing Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadling_Country , it definitely confirms that Quadling Country, characterized by red, is very much like what we’ve seen. (I’d also like to see her going into another namesake’s story world, but you can’t always get what you want.)
I’m thinking the entity pulled her to the location for a specific purpose. Perhaps this sword has the ability to absorb magical attacks? That might help put Emma in a more heroic position in their team. (She is the Dorthy and she’s expected to be their savior.)
Its my first thought as well although that’s venturing more into mythology then literature. But then again their is an eye theme here which would match with Odin. But truly I don’t think its the case.
That sounds like there would have been some mythological side research which, judging from the excellence and intelligence of this strip, might be consistent. However, it might also be a little far out of the sphere of literature we’d expect to find represented here. (Sigh.)
A couple of people have told us some pages didn’t show up, but we can’t seem to figure out why. Could you send more details to us by email at isa@namesakecomic.com? Basically, what browser are you using? If you clear your history, does it change anything? Is there an error message? Are you using the arrows or clicking in the archive? Oh dear. That mysterious entity certainly doesn’t want to leave poor Emma alone. And now it’s separated her from the others…
On the other hand… that’s a mighty-fine lookin’ sword there…

did Hercilia get left behind?!

HERCILIA in Wonderland!
I keep thinking I should recognize this new setting.
Soooo Warrick’s adorable handholding plan entirely failed. LOL
He didn’t hold tightly enough! (One more thing for him to guilt over, soon!)
Oh crap, now they’re in the city with no Agent Orange Dorothy!
Or maybe it succeeded and he got tugged in with her and we just don’t see it somehow yet!
There’s also the possibility that this is all happening in her head. (I thought either she was pulled away from everyone else, Warrick came with her, or she’s daydreaming)
I gather that there are a number of sword in tree legends. A good number of Isa’s pictures show Emma with a sword. Is this where it comes from?
A rapier according to one caption. In fact Emma is holding it on the new book cover!
For some reason, I am pulled to Alice when thinking of swords and all those warm tones towards red and purple…
Oh, you TEASES! “Grand Confrontation with Renge — NOW!” “Ha! Just fooling!”

Definitely not in Kansas anymore!

“Questions, questions; too many questions.”
I think it’s petals or leaves, but it does look like something else. Maybe the tree is his heart?
Oh, I was afraid something unfortunate was gonna happen when they decided to teleport again…
If she ends up in another Namesake’s story world, I will flip shit. That would be awesome.

So really, I’m clueless.
…and on the edge of my seat!
She’s in Quadling Country!
maybe…

Uh-oh… O_o
Handle on the sword here is the same as the handle on the cover. We have an explanation coming.
barnstokkr?

you two make a very good point.
Very nice use of colour.
Argh! Another plot twist.
As a new reader this is the first page I can see after Warrick’s no touching page.

Also, please clear your cache? That might help. Isa can get the pages to me as well.
