OMG, Alice has a BFS. I think I’m in love. Alas, I’m married.
I don’ tthink security will be an issue since she can clearly SUMMON IT OUT OF THIN AIR. Presumably it won’t be IN her luggage when she passes through security.
My, my, Elaine seems a bit peeved. And Jack’s not good at this talking thing. He does seem to be a young man overall (no matter how old he is in years). Me, I’d be a lot less worried; the whole “look guilty” bit doesn’t help. “Your sister’s alive. Probably. Someone else got killed. I’ll explain, but not here.”
Oooo! Alice has a Vorpal Sword! I wonder what sort of “big guns” Wendy’s bringing.
Yeah, Jack, that’s the wrong way to go about this. Calling her sweetheart and telling her to calm down? Not the bist choice of words in this situation.
little sister is right, but listening to dude’s side of the conversation, i really don’t see how she magically guessed he had anything to do with his sister disappearing, i think that one was a bit [lot] of a strech
Elaine is fairly young. She’s only 15. She’s terrified and needs someone to take it out on. Jack just happened to be in the way and say the right words to get her imagination going. If a police officer being even more vague happened to be standing there, he’d be the receipient of Elaine’s wrath as well. It’s like when someone you love is murdered – you’re going to grab a scrap of information no matter how absurd it sounds. Elaine could have either been extremely embarrassed – which can be chalked up to the situation – or, she could be right. It also didn’t help that Jack kept looking at them either.
@Ryk E. Spoor, actually i think she’s just making it full size out of that necklace in panel one. And Jack, just be honest. Very quickly. Because Ben is being waayy to calm and quiet right now. Which makes me think that Ben’s all ready wondering / thought of someplace nice and quiet he can take Jack to. Not that I think Jack’s in much danger. I somehow doubt he came unprepared for trouble.
Yes, I saw that and just posted a nitpick to my own post on it. Either way, it’s not going to be a problem going through customs.
Yes, I also don’t think Jack’s unprepared. The problem wasn’t that he couldn’t have handled trouble, it was that the trouble he ran into was stuff he had prior history with — personal connections that kept him from acting quickly and decisively.
That’s an impressive sword.
OTOH, even if Alice’s flight doesn’t touch down in the US, I think it’s going to raise some serious eyebrows with airport security….

Nitpicking myself, she can summon it up from a tiny miniature sword charm which will pass just fine through customs. This won’t be a problem.

Alice just gets awesomer and awersomer.
(awesomer is TOTALLY a word)
Awesomer awesomeness than the most awesomest awesome ever to awe the awestruck.
SWORRRRRRRD

Jack is just taking it from every direction isn’t he?
