That book, it couldn’t be Emma’s story, could it? Could it?
Careful Emma you don’t know what might happen! Strange book appeared magically, that seems a little suspicious to me.
Unless it’s a book with all of her adventures magically recorded in it!!

Really, I think that if the book has all of her adventures magically recorded in it, that that would be very suspicious!
I am pretty sure that it’s the book that Karen gave her at the library (she even mentioned it was blue). Plus, it would make sense that it would be lying around on the ground, because Emma must have dropped it when she got sucked into Oz.
Well, I can say I’m not as confused as her, but…kinda! I think the “shoe fetish” is the best part.
I get the “shoe fetish” thing, but what is “flowers?” The poppies?
Yeah, I bet the book is either The Wizard of Oz or something that Elaine cooked up during one of her writing sessions.

I recognize Warrick’s shoulders on imaginary date!

Just occured to me..I wonder if that crazy dream must have something to do with the memory D:< The mask and all..maybe he put some kind of spell on her? We know she didn't just -forget- when she came back cause she said Warrick when Nose found her.
Yeah at this point that is about 50% of our(viewers) opinion that Nose somehow memory-wiped her with a spell. It is of my personal observation that those little blue bubbles you keeps seeing everywhere are evidence of magic.
The shoes are Hercilia and the man in a black coat is Warrick in the Witch of the West’s coat and the flowers are the poppies, duh.
The book is probably the Wizard of Oz!
This means she’ll be goin’ back soon! YEA! YOU GO EMMA!!!!

Emma probably shouldn’t be too happy to see THAT particular bouquet of flowers from any guy in a black coat.
Interesting how she perceives the faded memory of Warrick as a potential love interest… hmmm <__>

You know, I just realized: This whole thing started in a library. “Go read a book” indeed.
Namesake is just one really long advertisement to encourage people to go to public libraries. Or not, considering murder and mayhem seems to happen in them. Depends what you want out of life, really.

I can’t help but notice that in the fourth panel I see a more Warrick like figure(blames the nose).
I have read the entire archive over the last week. Now I need to get the books and leave them out where my kids will find them, but there don’t seem to be any in the store. Are they currently available?
They are being printed/re-printed at the moment. We’ll have them up in the store again by summer!

I am very glad Emma seems to a least retain a bit of her memories…even if they are not technically correct. Her face in the third and fourth panels crack me up! Too bad Warrick can’t see her thoughts, I’d love to see his expressions.

I noticed that the shoes she is wearing in her second fantasy look like Hercilia as a pair of high heeled pumps.
Hope the Oz characters come outta that book if she opens it………….
Is the man in the black coat the Nose, or Warrick? Or maybe she’s remebering Alice’s memories, from those flashbacks you keep showing?
Considering the reference to black coat, shoes, and flowers all together in one group, it is most likely Warrick. Warrick is the one who wears the black coat, the shoes are Hercilia, and the flowers are the poppies from Oz. Also the shape of the male has a pointy nose, though unclear if that’s suppose to mean anything.
More importantly, look at the “feathery” shoulders of the black coat itself – definitely Warrick.

I’ve read the entire archive for the first time over the past several days, and I was wondering: WHY do you torment us by posting cliffhanger pages on Sat.?!?! It’s so cruel! I absolutely love Namesake btw.
Welcome to the gang! I’m not really suse why the worse cliffhangers always seem to land on Saturdays *laughs* Maybe they just seem aplified because of the Saturday.
Aren’t they all cliff hangers until the end of the story?

Finally read the whole story from the beginning, it’s quite addictive and the characters are so endearing! Great comic!
I love Emma’s expression in the first panel, she is so focused and genre savvy.
