i know this is going to sound So stereotypical but—- I like that this thumbelina is a no-nonsense, feisty and sassy fiery redhead.

might be compensating for her size, but that makes her all the more awesome that she doesn’t let her tininess stop her from being fierce.

Plus she’s so pretty and this comic makes me shallow sometimes. ;p

      “Feisty and sassy”, indeed. :D

Somehow, she reminds me of Jinjur. Part of it is her take-charge attitude. But I think part of it is either her face or her facial expressions (particularly panel 8).

DO YOU WANT TO BE A WARRIOR?!

        Yeah… Jinjur. XP

          Late footnote:
Considering the intense plotting that goes on here in Namesake; Alice did NOT agree to being a warrior. She said she wanted to join Calliope. That smacks of someone who doesn’t want either one of two options. But since the others hold all the cards, she pretends to go along. “I want to join you,” means I’ll take the freedom of choice two. This will let me learn all I can about you high-handed people.

            PPS:
Perhaps Lina is on to Alice’s internal reservation. “That’s what I thought you would say,” with acagy expression on her little face. Not, you’ll like being a warrior.
Sorry! I just spent about one hour marinating in the intense plotting of Paranatural. Highly recommended for those of us that want to get to the bottom of the rabbit hole.
Now I am going to do housework and get my feet back on solid ground.

also there seems to be a typo in the second panel (“both have you have been…)- shouldn’t it be “both of you have been”?

also makes me so sad that they couldn’t get in touch with alice about joining much much earlier- that could have saved her poor sister and her fiancee.

Maybe I’m not getting the perspective of that last square right, but either Thumbelina grew or Dodgson shrank due to her scolding. I’m thinking, the latter.

I think it’s more of a forced perspective effect. Like LotR, only Thumbelina is made to look Carroll’s size

I wonder why Alice wasn’t hooked up with Calliope years ago. I’m suspecting something to do with her family.

It carries on from the second intermission and is discussed there. Alice’s family tried to keep her from Charles as much as possible following her first Wonderland trip. After the second, they whisked her away to Europe to cure her of her “unnaturalness” in sanitariums. Alice had to meet secretly with Charles the entire time.

Looks like things are going to get interesting! ;) Also who is “Hans”? Could it be Hans Christian Andersen?!?! :D

Yes, he was the administrator of Calliope prior to Thumbelina. He passed away in 1875.

OMG! :3 yay! Did you know Hans stayed at Charles Dickens house for a short time sleeping on his couch, they didn’t really like him being there, and they didn’t respond to any of his letters after that. :( Poor Hans, I get the feeling that he personally knew all the characters in his tales. Hope we get to some something like that, flashbacks of the “authors” meeting their characters? That would be so cute! :D

I hope Tink shows up. :) I made up my own version of Tink, who turned out to be a boy named Terrance and only half faerie, who after being rejected by Peter stole Wendy from him. :3

Yes, I’m well aware of that. ;) I was doing an alternate history thing with the original book. In said book it totally hints that Wendy “like likes” Hook too, along with Peter. In what I did, that part with Tink being a boy is “edited” out of the story and no one knows exactly what happened. I also made him able to change to human size. I’ve done this with other fairy tales. Don’t judge me !!! >:o

Alice Liddell is one of my favorite fairy tale/based on a real person characters. I also like her in Alice in the Country of Hearts, where almost all of the original characters are re-imagined as hot guys for her to date. Except the queen of hearts, she’s basically the same, but is the Hatter’s older sister.

I have a feeling that Thumbelina isn’t all she seems… or she’s just very good at her job. Considering the way Modern Alice acts, it’s not too surprising.

The 5th pannel reminds so much of Holly from The Locked Maze comic just more fiery and bossy.

That is correct. Alice has been a problem for years, so Hans was involved in protecting her until he passed away.
