Bonus update: First page of Warrick short story!
on February 13, 2013 at 12:00 amOur Kickstarter ends on Sunday and here is the first page of the bonus short story featuring Warrick! No letters yet, because I’m still working on the earlier bits of the book. This story comes during the flashback scenes of chapter 7 and was something we had wanted to do at the time but felt the chapter was gigantic enough as is.
We have opened up a limited number of hardcover copies of books 1 and 2 of Namesake, so please check them out! Those softcover copies are pretty darn nifty as well! Please click through the link above the comic and help support Namesake! And I hope you all enjoyed the Valentines yesterday.

A short story…featuring Warrick? :’D
Hey, I love your art! How can I order the books? I saw only the first book in the Store section….
We’re doing pre-orders for book 2 now through Kickstarter. You can order both books through it.
Here’s the link!
Thanks for that link Meg. You just reminded me that I wanted to get both hardcovers and had forgotten to do so.
You’ve already sold out your hardcovers! Wow.
What sorts of book stores would sell Namesake books? (Specific names would be appreciated!)
Any store that approaches me or Isa directly to sell it. So far, we have our comics at three stores where I live in Pennsylvania (Comix Connection in Mechanicsburg, Midtown Scholar in Harrisburg and Planet X Comics in York) and The Beguiling and one other Toronto location that escapes me at the moment.
Tried to change my pledge to the hardcovers but must be doing something wrong. It wouldn’t work.
On the manage pledge page, you have to update your dollar amount to the correct value AND select the new tier you’re wanting.
Aww man, now I really want to see this D:
Warrick’s expressions are always awesome!
Looks like Warrick just found his cloak, and it wasn’t stored carefully enough to keep the mildew away. Poor guy, that’s a tough smell to remove. Maybe Oz has some magic cleaner?
Love all the expressions, they tell a story all by themselves!
I also like the little wind-up globe of the Emerald City in panel one. I imagine this tinkling music playing while the city turns.
There is?! (looks back) There IS!!! Wow, just/almost like the . . . the “Emerald Wand” and “Trouble Under” Oz books by Sherwood Smith (and illustrated by William Stout). Are you girls familiar with those particular stories, or is it just a coincidence?
Coincidence. The globe is based off this old Wizard of Oz movie memorabilia I saw in a friend’s house.
It’s this one : http://www.givinggallery.com/images/products/27/San-Francisco-Music-Box-Wizard-of-Oz8482-Emerald-City-Lighted-Waterglobe-N5294_XL.jpg
It plays “We’re off to see the wizard”
Thanks! Though judging by the friends’ reaction, sounds more like “We’re awfully scared by the Wizard” . . .
LOVE the colouring on this page!
Yay!! A Warrick side story!!
Oh, he is so damn cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute ;_; I wanted to buy the comic, but I really need to save money ;_; I hope my friends get it for me for my birthday… I even dropped (do you say ‘drop’ in English?) the idea casually… posting it on facebook and tagging all of them… I think I’m posting it again…
One fine day, Warrick, lacking the time to go to his tailor, is searching…
…for that special…
Where is it?
I thought it was here.
…really fancy…
…wizard’s outfit.
It has to be here!
It seems Warrick’s wardrobe (as in closet) has gone missing.
Here it is.
It seems fine, but–
What’s that–?
Oh, yuck! Mothballs!
Noooooo, I finished the archive!
I can’t wait to have this in hard copy! Ah!
Laundry day?
This was the current page when I first found your site.
On the plus side, I was so confused at least there weren’t any “Spoilers~”.
Now I’ve got context and this is just the sweetest thing ever.
… except for that last panel.
