It’s an Emma!
Dorthy’s definitely don’t use magical swords, but on that matter do Dorthys really do anything exciting?
Sure, Dorothy gets a magic belt that lets her beat the Nome King… and she has many great adventures… and she is loved by Ozma, all very exciting things.
Dorothies are pretty damn badass (to me anyways. Love them)… But they don’t usually have cursed swords, which is what is making Renge react.

Since the act of freeing the ghost will no doubt come back to haunt Emma later (pun intended
), this sword better be super effective against the monster.
Emma has made her choice. Good or bad, we knew she would end up with that sword. The image of her in action is a great catharsis. As always the sound effects (Flojp…Tchin) are unique and effective!
*sigh* She made the deal. bah.
Well, she sure looks cool with that sword.
Her face in the sword reveal panel looks like it’s still Emma, so we just might be able to somewhat rule out the ghost being “free” by taking over Emma’s body. Perhaps it’s free in a more literal sense?
Does the inside of the monsters mouth look like the ghost, or is that just me….?

Another pair of sword-swinging girl namesakes would, of course, be Lucy and Susan from the Narnia series…of course, she could always be a female incarnation of Moorcock’s Eternal Champion too.
And if Renge knew the not-Dorothy could do that, she’d have invited Emma over much sooner.
She would have invited Emma over for tea? You mean, as opposed to sending Anlise (with the brain poppies) on a mission to slay her? All because she’s wielding a sword and being a bada$$?
Well, if Renge really is trying to protect everyone from Evil Thing (…and becoming Evil to do it, frankly, or at least Way Wicked…), then… yeah, she might’ve sent her best brain-poppied friend to grab Emma and bring her back post-haste!

I’m guessing they haven’t gotten many badass Dorothys.
As badass as having the sword makes Emma, I’m very concerned what it means for her to take this ‘deal with the devil’ in order for her to get it. These things tend to not end well at all.

Hmmm, the ghost spoke of Emma gaining all their powers, which makes me wonder if the ghost is a collection of various fallen namesakes from over the years.
