It’s got a sort of treeish or viney look doesn’t it?
Hmmm, possibilities. Is this some remnant of the old Wicked Witch perhaps? Maybe it has some connection to the creepy poppies in the current time? Or the ghost? I don’t know, the ghost was out of OZ when we first saw it…
Oh man, this whole scene was giving me this familiar vibe that I couldn’t quite place till this page. To me, it feels very reminiscent a part in this book called Lirael by Garth Nix when Lirael stumbles across the Stilken. Anyone know it?
Oh, man… I read the Abhorsen series totally out of order! XD But yeah, I’m more or less familiar with it, but it’s been at least seven or eight years since I read it in junior high, so I’ve forgotten most of it.
It was one of those books that make you sad in that “I can’t wait to finish reading this book – Wait, what do you mean it’s OVER?!? D:” sort of ways.
*Shivers* I swear to god that thing is creepy. Considering that weird smoke coming out of it’s nose and lack of eyes, I vote that it’s the Ghost thing from the Dorthies Shrine.
THough, I now sort of have a theory why it kills. Anyone seen the Mummy? Well, it’s pretty much the same deal. Steal a host organs to regain it original form/powers. (I’m pretty sure that this thing will be the things that permanently scares these two. As well as kill Adora.) 8<
Hey, now, no profiling! Like most dogs, pits tend to be sweet and loving.
Trouble is, badly socialized or startled ones can be deadly. :/
Like this thing…
O_O
Okay, it’s probably weird of me to notice these details, but …
The incredibly horrible awful thing from the closet (which came close to freaking me out the first time I read the strip) has, among other things, a naval and two breasts. I would say that based on those two things (particularly the belly button) that it’s something that WAS a human female at one time.
I could be jumping to wrong conclusions based on comparative anatomy, however. *shrugs and grins*
You created some really good high-octane nightmare fuel tonight, folks. I’m thanking you now, despite the fact that it’ll probably haunt my sleep. *sighs, then winks*
Medusa, maybe? Those look like they could be snakes-for-hair or something close. And would explain the Witch’s power level a lot, if she was keeping a mythological beast on the level of the gods prisoner.
OTOH, it could also be roots/vines, which would link it to the Poppies of Mind Control.
I note the escape of a misty something that is probably our least-favorite ghosty-thing, too.
NS is one of those webcomics that you wish the archives when on forever. Well, at least I do. I just can’t stand the wait to learn more about this world err worlds and how everything fits together. In conclusion, Thank you for giving the world a wonderful comic!
Oh holy crap. I have two guesses as to what that THING is. 1. the ghost, but a much creepier version. or 2. the remains of the wicked witch.
And given the present circumstances, no, Warrick is not lucky to have you as a sister. And how on earth (err… Oz?) did a monster like that look like books to you?!
So, what happens next could actually be considered more Selva’s fault than Warrick’s, huh?
My guess is that they each blame themselves more than the other however.
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! CLOSE THE DOOR AND LOCK IT AGAIN! CLOSE THE DOOR AND LOCK IT AGAIN! *lol*
Hey I have a question. Why have you started drawing the twins with GREEN hair in the the color pages? what happened to the BROWN hair they originally started out with back in the beginning?
Looks like Warrick finds his cloak.
And it seems some things are better off behind closed (and locked) doors.

Oh you evil comic creators you. I desire answers!
Mwahaha.
Huh. Well. That brings back memories of playing Silent Hill at 2 in the morning.
In answer to your question, Selva, no.
Oh man, this whole scene was giving me this familiar vibe that I couldn’t quite place till this page. To me, it feels very reminiscent a part in this book called Lirael by Garth Nix when Lirael stumbles across the Stilken. Anyone know it?
I hope dealing with this thing doesn’t require months of research.
Man, I love those books, yes, I know exactly what you mean
I don’t know of it, but i’ll check it out!

oooh. I love how the inside of the closet looks as organic as the monster, all melty and gross.
It’s been there for a while.
DEAR GOOD IT THE ALIEN’S GRANDMOTHER!
*Shivers* I swear to god that thing is creepy. Considering that weird smoke coming out of it’s nose and lack of eyes, I vote that it’s the Ghost thing from the Dorthies Shrine.

Does sound like a good source of trauma.
ZOMGCREEPY
OH SH-
Well, there goes any hope of me getting any sleep tonight.
M… maybe it just wants a hug?
Of course! It just wants to hug you… from the INSIDE.
Like pit bulls! They just want to hug your neck… with their teeth…
Hey, now, no profiling! Like most dogs, pits tend to be sweet and loving.

– Eris
Wow, you stared at that thing way longer than I did, Eris. o_o
O_o Um, yeah. Locks are generally put there for a reason, kids.
So are X’s. So far, no one cares
Anyone else think it looks like a more monsterized version of the ghost?
Also: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
No, he is not.
OO Oh crud.
Closethedoorclosethedoorclosethedoor!!!!!! O_O
That looks kind of like the Space Jockey in the derelict ship in the beginning of Alien
Hummm, alien.
GAH!

Well, now there’s a thought — perhaps this thing is dead, but the ghost is now being released. Good for them now, bad for them later!
Aaaaaaand now I know exactly what is in my closet and why I make sure to close the curtains every night…..
Holes for eyes, hole where the heart should be. hmm.
NS is one of those webcomics that you wish the archives when on forever. Well, at least I do. I just can’t stand the wait to learn more about this world err worlds and how everything fits together. In conclusion, Thank you for giving the world a wonderful comic!
Aw, you’re welcome.
If something jumps out and starts hugging her face, I’m gonna go watch My Little Pony for the rest of the afternoon!
Hey…. monsters aside, did Warrick just find his cloak? That he wears in the present day?
Yup.
You girls really know how to make some grotesque things…
Thanks!
Is this the spirit that is now INSIDE Emma?!
JESUS H. CHRIST ON A POGO STICK, MAN!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
Oh holy crap. I have two guesses as to what that THING is. 1. the ghost, but a much creepier version. or 2. the remains of the wicked witch.

Hmm.. I’m thinking it’s a Bogart or Bogeyman of sorts…….. Riddikulus! XD
And now we’ll have Snape wearing a grandma outfit. Is it really less scary?
I remember in the movie when someone (Parvati, maybe?) turned a boggart into a freaky jack-in-the-box, which was scarier than what it was originally.
I’ve heard of dead bodies in the closet but really that’s kinda impressive!
Beats being under the mattress.
Yeah, that looks like Miss NAsty Ghost to me! I wonder if it can hurt Selva though; I mean she’s not a Namesake
Getting to know Selva through this back history, and liking her, makes me even more grateful that she escaped death-by-burning-handbag.
Now here’s a possible antagonist. Gotta remember the location of this page.
Lucky indeed.
Hello! Nightmare realm caling! Bring me Nemo and your sister doesn’t have to die.
So, what happens next could actually be considered more Selva’s fault than Warrick’s, huh?
My guess is that they each blame themselves more than the other however.
I am never going to open my closet ever again.
Everything in the flash back has a green tint.
That black bile creature seems sort of similar to the ghost haunting Emma. I wonder if there is a connection between the two?
