The Scarecrow
on June 9, 2012 at 12:00 amThis is the end of book 2. If anyone needs us, there is an armored bunker with our names waiting on it.
We will be doing two supplements of background material on Monday and Wednesday. Book 3 begins a week from today with the second intermission.

;o; W-what…?
This next week waiting for book three is going to be torture.
Evil is as evil does. I dislike waiting, too. I dislike waiting three times per week.
The Evil Isameg has a winner.
You always do this on Saturdays. ALWAYS. (: And making us wait a whole WEEK this time! So cruel.
So wait, is the ghosty thing with Emma not the “It?” Is Scarecrow “It?” What is going on I don’t even–
Why does the Scarecrow remind me of the movie Alien, right now? *deletes the Prometheus trailer music tab*
HA. Ironically, I had to design the “Prometheus” review page at work. It only reaffirmed my resolve not to see it, and I didn’t! I sent my husband and best friend instead while I hid in Barnes and Noble reading a book.
So THIS is what you meant when you warned us about something ominous coming up! What a cliffhanger! Is Uncle Scarecrow the host of something evil? Now I guess we’ll go back to Tom Quad, then to Elaine and Fred before we find out the answer. You know how to keep us in suspense!
We won’t be going back to the modern cast until after the Oz arc is finished. So, just the intermission, which isn’t very long.
The impending end of the Oz story also has me nervous. I love these characters!
Scarecrow.
(mind flashes of certain past pages)
*whispers* No . . . !
But WHAT is dripping?? Blood in the last several pages has been spot-colored red, and this is black. He’s oozing tar….ish stuff??
If only I could show you my worry and rage! Normally my sleep with one eye open warnings don’t mean much. LOOK TO YOUR RIGHT, ONEE-CHAN (Isa, it’s okay, I’ll just take it all out on Megs.)
GUHHHH~ I keep pulling on my hair and making noises and guhhhhhh.
NO NOT THE SCARECROW. HE IS TOO AWESOME. It makes sense but WHY is he the host of “it”! -Flail-
Oh no, that monster thingy that the twins released in the castle is hiding in Scarecrow, isn’t it? o.o At least, that’s what it seems to me…
Or maybe it’s his brain, guys.
His brain is made of bran and pins. Therefore, it doesn’t ooze.
AHAHAHAHAHHAAAA! <- That was my initial reaction. Screams of horror. Well done. ^_^; little black tricks have never frightened me so much but it caught me totally by surprise and hit me in the side of the head!
well well.. This kind of actually makes sense in a sort of very odd way. Scarecrow never really had a heart, and his brains were well whatever the wizard put in there. I always saw him as a sort of endearing object brought to life, much like Jack. Though it goes without saying, now. Scarecrow could have easily been .. possessed by the ‘It” Renge refers to. I am only rationalizing the foreboding scene. Cause whatever that stuff leaking out of his head there, is sure as heck can’t be blood. He has -no- blood. In fact I want to think this is the very same ‘It” that Ozma faced before she went missing. I recall a line she said prior to that. ‘Oh, It’s back again.”
And also, just realized something. “Emma” is a very teeny tiny Namesake, according to the ghost in the house. Now she is obviously not a Dorothy.. But what if she is like perhaps a namesake for “Aunty Em” ? Em could very well be short for Emma? Just a theory. Cause it was said that the Original Dorothy brought her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry to Oz right?
I want to think that Emma is a Namesake for an unwritten story. Perhaps Elaine is the writer. Or maybe there’s a writer out there who is writing Emma’s story as this is going on. At least, that’s my theory right now. It is bound to change, since this comic does that to you.
Hmmm…some one out there…writing Emma’s story? *looks at IsaMeg* I guess that’s very true! XD
Whoa, I didn’t even think of Auntie Em. Whether you’re right or not, clever!
Actually, I think the “Em” in “Auntie Em” stood for “Emily,” if I’m not mistaken.
Oo Ho bon de d’la…. AH. AAAAAH!!!! Ohallala nooon pas l’Epouvantail pas luin!
WHAT THE NINE ACTUAL HELLS D:
Oh, this is gonna suck.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Hmm… I did not expect “it” to be some kind of a physical being. But if it is, then I guess hiding inside Scarecrow is a logical choice, considering he’s something of a “golem-like” person – what’s inside his head does not really matter to him.
twist!
HE’S BEEN POSSESSED BY DARKINGS (Tamora Pierce reference). Actually, that would be kind of adorable…
WAUGH! Unwitting host! WAUGH!
N-Not the brain! Anything but that!!!
WAIT! Does anyone remember the flashback from when Warrick accidentally released that thing and it killed his mother? Wasn’t that thing like a blackish color? I’m probably wrong but…
wow i didnt know the scarcrow could bleed!
*gasp* Isameg hinted at tragedy happening in the next few pages… :O
What if it’s Dorothy-gone-bad dressed as the Scarecrow?
Um… Really? If the Scarecrow was the Real Dorthy all along, then how did she disguise her voice as the beloved Scarecrow? And how did she know all about Warrick, Selva, Nick the Chopper (Tin Man), etc, etc ?
I just hope a) Emma (or someone) immediately notices what we notice and tell the soldiers to keep the Scarecrow out and b) that they can stop the Scarecrow without seriously hurting or destroying him utterly. Things could get ugly if “it” does somehow manage to reach the poor Ozma before she’s recovered and wakes up.
I see what you mean about using Scarecrow as a disguise. But I don’t think there’s ever been a moment where the Scarecrow was not accompanied by Selva or someone we don’t know. (And I remember when Emma rescued him he lost a leg and she commented on how light he was.) So there was not a chance (as far as we know) for Scarecrow to get replaced with an imposter. It’s far more believable to assume the Scarecrow picked up a “hitchhiker”… sort of like Emma’s own situation.
Or maybe the same hitch hiker, even. Storms are brewing!
Nooooooooo!!!!!! Not Scarecrow!!!! Please don’t let anything bad happen to Scarecrow!!! *sobs*
You two are cruel. CRUEL!!!
I prefer the word “Evil” myself.
Try begging, “Nooooo! Not the !” It may throw the Evil Isameg off the scent.
Or not.
My post got garbled because I used less-than and greater-than. It sure is a good thing that this is not a math comic.

Try begging, “Nooooo! Not the [something that you do not care about]!” It may throw the Evil Isameg off the scent.

… Oh, that ain’t foreboding at all.
Well….AAUUUGH!
Arg… It’s weird. I could read the chapter once and now the picture is not loading anymore >..<
Noooooooo
not him :’( </3
I… guess we should’ve seen something about the Scarecrow coming cuz of the Chapter Cover… but still. I didn’t expect that. At all. WHYYYY????
oh…mein….gott!!!! oOo!!
Here It comes.
I guess it got into him when he was in the poppy field? Although… I’m not exactly sure about what’s happening as of yet. It looks like It is the thing Warrick and his sister fought in the castle when they were kids. But the thing haunting Emma doesn’t seem quite the same. But It does have something to do with the dorothy’s. So… I’m not sure. If the thing with Emma is It, then I wonder why Renge didn’t notice it.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFES!!!!
Renge flailed.
Also, in the list of chareters, why isn’t there ‘it’?
After an archive trawl, I feel this might be the “it” to which Renge is referring: http://www.namesakecomic.com/comic/running-again/
So, we have the mask-creature trapped in the in-between that is protecting Emma from getting eaten by “it” (mentioned when she entered the house of Dorothies http://www.namesakecomic.com/comic/still-useful/). Not so sure how hungry “it” got out to Emma’s world or what exactly the in-between mask creature is though…
Wahhh! Baby no!!
The oz arc can’t be done already, I don’t want it to ever stop!
Random food for thought, with Oma’s heart in a questionable state of health with all the death she’s seen, what if she doesn’t *want* out of the poppies? Or is being controlled by the….thing? Would that in turn hurt Warrik if she was woken up? Or is him feeling his surly self an indication that she’s ok, just in some kind of Odin sleep?
NOOOOO!! not SCARECROW! the last of the original Dorothys friends? What’s the ‘it’ that’s leaking out of the seams in his head?
