Mr. Carroll, I presume?

A couple of references here. The Liddell family used to spend their summer vacations in Llandudno, a resort town in Wales. While it was originally rumored that the original Alice story was told here, it wasn't. One of Alice's sisters wrote as an adult that she had no memory of Carroll ever visiting there. Furthermore, he wouldn't have been welcomed. He especially wouldn't be welcomed in the Namesake world, where all blame of Alice's misadventures are assigned to him.

Alice and Lewis loosely bring up Lewis' odd position in Christ Church. As a requirement of his position there, he was required to become a priest. Although Lewis did become a deacon in 1861, he never took the final step to become a priest. Lewis appealed to Alice's father to not go ahead with it. For an unknown reason, Dean Liddell decided not to go through the motion of expelling Lewis, and Lewis lived in Christ Church for the rest of his life. It's one of the many mysteries surrounding Lewis and his relationship with the Liddell family.
